SONG OF THE
WILD
Edited by Colin Gibson, Illustrated
by Lloyd Jones, 2015.
In 1989, bushwalking
researcher Col Gibson compiled “Sing With The Wind” (Envirobook), an
anthology of poetry and light verse on bushwalking themes taken from
club magazines, manuscripts and personal sources dating from as far back
as the early 20th century. Here, then, is its long awaited
sequel. “Song Of The Wild” contains verse by some of the writers who
appeared in the first book, including Dorothy Lawry, Marie Byles, and
Roy Davies (to whom the book is dedicated), with many more recent
contributors as well. The book includes an introduction giving
interesting background information on some of the earlier pieces. One
for connoisseurs of the poetic side of bushwalking literature. 175
pages.
